GoPlay PDX is the merging of two efforts: Build a thriving group of Portland based gamers who focus on small
press and independent styled games or "story games" in many cases, and create a west coast affiliation of small
press publishers and developers to help provide group support and access to resources. GoPlay PDX embodies the
goals of both groups and brings them together in order to expand the aperture of gaming for the gamer, and to
provide a great source of players for small press publishers to field test their new games. This joint effort
is seen in full force at local conventions, which we plan to spear head with a three tined approach at GameStorm,
ConQuest, and GoPlay NW. Each of these conventions/major gatherings will be a means of growing the community,
tightening it, and centralizing many aspects of it without destroying the individualistic nature of Indie games.
GoPlay PDX organizes several game days where gamers can come to a public place, a person's house, or local game
stores and play one of a few great games. As our community grows, so will the frequency of events and the selection
of playable games. As we work closely with small press publishers our local community will have a first glimpse of
new games in development and while having a great time trying them out, also get a first hand chance at shaping the
game's final version by providing great feedback to the developer.
All in all, GoPlay PDX seeks to drive the small press gaming aspect of the industry to create a great community and
to make Indie games seen for what they are: a great way to have fun, and a major force in the gaming industry!
